The Weekend Recap

May 14th, 2007 by NextRound

hefty's big leap

 This weekend we learned:

  • Lefty maintains chubiness, winning ways. Mickelson won the The Players this weekend, and we’re pretty excited about Hefty’s big win. Not so much because we’re fans of his–he’s a little too smiley and chubby and oblivious in shirt selection for us–but we’re excited that we don’t have to listen to every talking head hack bring up Phil’s Wingfoot collapse at the mention of the guy going forward. These quasi-journalists will have to find some other generalization to go to the well for when golf is brought up in the future. Thanks for the help, Heft. Plump is beautifal. (Side note: And was it soooo bad to keep calling this tournament the TPC? The Players feels a little forced. And it also sounds like the place where we pay a ridiculous ATM fee on Friday nights)
  • Favre is angry, doesn’t get personnel. Brett Favre came out at a golf tournament this weekend and bashed Packers’ management for not going harder after Randy Moss. Brett managed to drop the “I don’t want to start anything” line when inciting his bitterness, which is always a good one when your intentions are exactly the opposite. The really interesting part though is that Brett can’t get his head around the fact that the Packers are doing everything imaginable to passively aggressively push him to retire. Who wants to be strapped with Randy Moss and no quality draft picks the year after Brett’s gone?
  • Chris Moltisanti didn’t get a fair exit. For being such an integral part of the show and having so many potential storylines tied to his current character arc, “The Sopranos” just sweeping Christopher under the rug with a car crash death was a little too easy for our taste. What about J.T. taking one to the brain? What about the relapse? What about his crumbling internal fortitude and his readiness to snitch on Tony? And god, does this mean more A.J.? Might as well write in more Janice while they’re at it. Gross.
