The Monthly Update: June ‘07
June 29th, 2007 by NextRound
by The NextRound Team
We’ve made it through another month without letting the site go completely to hell.
The newest marketing initiative involves handing out marketing cards to anyone with a pulse as well as plastering them on the tables and in the bathrooms of all our favorite establishments (bars). If we run into you and we don’t think you’ll embarrass us or your ugly or anything, we’ll give you a big stack to hand out to friends and relatives and friends of relatives.
StillAwesome.com has been a bigger hit than anticipated. We used to think we were the only ones that thought we were funny, but apparently there are like twenty of you out there that think we’re funny as well. In order to satisfy the demand, we plan on keeping as much content coming to the best of our abilities. If only day jobs didn’t get in the way. Those pesky sons of bitches are always holding us down.
Speaking of income generation (sweet fucking segue, huh?), we’d like for the site to generate as much as possible so we can make it better. That means we must be super lame and continue to once a week encourage the faithful to keep checking out our ads and keep Bodog in mind for your gambling needs this upcoming football season. (Note to all the concerned: All money the site makes goes back into making the site better. No funds are allotted for Booth to buy new nipple rings or anything of that nature.)
Labor Day weekend is creeping up–we’ve made no reservations about our anticipation level–and that’s when things around here will be hitting full steam. During August we’ll have a new contributor covering college football and college football wagering (it’s not Booth, so be excited). The contributor will also be providing picks every Thursday (once again, not Booth).
Moral of this story is: if you’re going to be gambling on sports anyway, help some dudes out and sign up for an online account through our Bodog links before football seasons hit. Then we’ll continue to make the site better. Win, win all around.
And–as always–please spread the word on the site, particularly StillAwesome.com. Whether it’s message boards, emailing our columns, whatever, tell people to visit StillAwesome.com. The more people who check out the content and keep coming back, the more people who will eventually create team pages on NextRound. The whole thing will be tremendous.
And now, as always, what you’ve been waiting for:
The Team Cool & Tough Update:
Every month we highlight the latest happenings of everyone’s favorite crew of socially challenged twentysomething dudes. In quasi-chronological order, here are things that went down last month (as logged on Team Cool & Tough’s team page on NextRound.net).
- At work, Big Cherry interviewed a chick who used to do porno. We saw pictures. People got excited.

- A debate about whether we’d rather see “Transformers” or “Die Hard 4″ morphed into a heated argument over 1) whether “Knocked Up” is a gay movie to be excited to see, 2) whether we should write about the NBA on StillAwesome.com since the NBA sucks, and 3) whether Amanda Beard’s small boobies keep her from achieving “smoking hotness”. The conclusions were 1) “Knocked Up” wasn’t too gay because they play ODB in the opening credits, 2) the NBA does kind of suck but is OK for us to write about as long as we only comment on the league fuck ups and bad GM moves, and 3) the Amanda Beard thing was split down the middle between dudes who dig hot chicks and dudes who are into man chested chicks with massive foreheads.
- In response to the new reality show “Age of Love” starring that tennis player with the weird last name, we created several different angles to make a successful reality dating show starring our boy JB. Every one of these shows would be a massive success if greenlighted.
- Big Sexy took serious offense to the anticipation level “Transformers” was getting on our team page. He took aim at the movie with such classic lines as, “Tyrese Gibson, what was Bill Belemay too busy?” and, “Shia LaBeouf, did Fred Savage’s brother die or something?” The jury is still out on whether it is cool to want to see “Transformers” in the theater, but it is definitive that jokes about Fred Savage’s brother are funny.

- The small Alabama contingent took a few jabs when the new Alabama gameday guidelines were recently reported. Some of the progressive initiatives include a ban on jean shorts and tank tops, thereby disqualifying half of the Tide season ticket holders from entering the stadium due to their wardrobe being entirely made up of jean shorts and tank tops. It’s unfortunate.
- Old Balls S-Mac made a comment about wanting to “fist” himself over his excitement with regards to a hot shot new quarterback playing for his alma mater. It made people uncomfortable.

- And the longest post in Team Cool & Tough history ended with everyone willing to knock some dust off their wallets and the creation of Cool & Tough Racing. Much more on this to come in the upcoming weeks, including a ‘Happily Hungover’ breakdown of our equestrian endeavors. Needless to say, just one more ill-advised decision with the end goal pretty much being to impress random chicks we meet.
See you next month.

for the Transformers vs Die Hard 4 debte. I had someone tell me, ” i would rather see Transformers, that Die Hard movie looks too fake.”
That kind of stupidity does not deserve a reply.

Way to many people have fallen out of love with John McLane over the last 5 years. We don’t get it.
You have to admit, Optimus Prime does looking pretty gd realistic.

I wouldn’t even want to see Transformers if you guys hadn’t sold me on how hot the actress in the movie is…..if Willy K says it is a good movie then i will definately wait for it to come on dvd.

easy there visor….. this is the website that thought “shooter” was going to be the blockbuster of the year.

We think we said “shooter” had potential. Besides, we don’t miss anything with our boy Marky Mark in it. There’s always a chance he’ll break into an impromptu version of “good vibrations”.
