The Monthly Update: August ‘07

The NextRound Update:
In case you’re a complete asshole and haven’t noticed, we changed our look overnight. With the popularity of our content (who the hell knows how) it was becoming increasing more difficult having our commentary separated from the NextRound home page.
And when you factor in the start of college football season (hence the FSU Cowgirls) and wanting to do the H-Man’s picks justice (see his side bar on the right), BAM! Here it is. All in one place.
Side Note: You’re an even bigger asshole if you didn’t take Kent State to the bank last night.
The new home page and look is actually Phase 1 of a three prong plan. That’s right, three GD prongs. That’s how we roll.
Phase 1: New home page and content look.
Phase 2: Team page overhaul/upgrade and introduction of NextRound Team Pages 1.0.
Phase 3: World domination (aka Booth gets his own place).
There may be some formatting/text glitches that arise with the new home page and content format. We’ll be tweaking it over the next week to get it right where we want it. If you run into any issues please email us at info@nextround.net so that we’re aware.
The site has been in more of a Work-in-Progress/R&D stage since it’s inception at the beginning of the year. But now that we’ve gotten plenty of feedback, done our research, and robbed some rich old people, we’re working to get close to a finished product.
Of course, the site will never “technically” be a finished project, but once we introduce the Team Pages 1.0 the site will no longer be in Beta, which, translated for all of you that were busy trying to bang that chick you sat next to in Computer Science: We’ll no longer be a rough draft.
We’re hoping to have the Team Pages 1.0 available in the next few months and we will keep everyone updated on our progress. If you have any suggestions/complaints/cash you’d like to offer us, please do. (If you currently use the team pages in their Beta form, don’t worry, all info will be transferred over to the new product.)
As far as other things go…
Bodog Update:
As many of you probably already know, Bodog lost bodog.com in a court decision recently and the site was down for an entire day. They still don’t have control of bodog.com, but the exact same site is now up at newbodog.com. We’re not entirely sure why they didn’t see this coming and have a better plan (especially before football season), but they’ve told us things should be rectified shortly.
This seems like something that should happen to some dickheads who run a site like ours and not an established company. But whatever. Not much we can do about it. (We secretly believe they heard about the H-Man was coming and just decided to throw up the white flag.)
Our links now go to the new site, and we’re certain they’ll have the domain thing fixed soon, so if you’d like to support our site, please use our links to set up an online account and enjoy the wagering. Let us know if you have any questions.
How you can throw us a bone:
We still can use all the word of mouth we can get. Please email the site to people, put up links on message boards, spread the word, etc. The more traffic we have, the more resources we’ll have availble to us to blow on beer and hookers to make the site even better.
If you think you’re smart and funny or just one of the two:
We’ve never openly said we’d be interested in publishing columns that we don’t write, but we’ve had a few pieces written by guest contributors and with the new home page and further focus on making NextRound a cool destination for a multitude of reasons, we’re willing to accept contributions from outsiders.
So if you’d like to submit material to us, please email it to info@nextround.net. You can publish under your name or a pseudonym. We’ll give you all the dap you want. Just make sure the subject is something relevant AND that it’s funny or extremely interesting. Thick skin is suggested.
And now, as always, what you’ve been waiting for…
The Team Cool & Tough Update:
Every month we highlight the latest happenings of everyone’s favorite crew of socially challenged twentysomething dudes. In quasi-chronological order, here are things that went down last month (as logged on Team Cool & Tough’s team page on NextRound.net).
Booth (aka Tubbs, aka NextRound’s Marketing Director) showed some initiative and had NR t-shirts made for Team Cool & Tough. Before he made the order he requested all members’ t-shirt sizes. There were a shocking amount of “medium” requests. JK did sight that unlike most people of Asian decent he is a medium and not a small.
- Steve Irony pulled the anti-Travis Henry and got his junk snipped so that going forward slipping one past the goalie will know longer be the bane of his existence. We were all equally proud and mortified.
- The Beez got engaged, surprisingly enough not to a dude. Several members of Team C&T lost money.
- Old Balls S-Mac introduced everyone to Tourrett’s Guy on YouTube. JB crapped himself with excitement. Luckily, SMac has had ample experience crapping himself and could provide assistance.
- Big Sexy notified everyone of Booth’s amazing similarity to North Florida rednecks. You’ll never guess what they have in common. We don’t want to ruin it for you, but it rhymes with jean shorts.
Proto is officially “Proto Texas Ranger” as he moved to Texas and officially has a San Antonio phone number. Despite consistent rumors floating around Team C&T, “TR” swears he’s not in the Witness Relocation Program.
- We all marveled in the accomplishments of Travis Henry.
- In one day, Toast managed to remind us all of his deep seeded disdain for hippies AND introduce to a tremendous new website, SEC Poon (sample pictured right, no other details necessary).
- Last night, Team C&T held our fantasy draft online. As usual, everyone is bullshit with how much their team sucks. JB was on autodraft and apparently ESPN was under the impression that he wanted every shitty second string running back in the league on his roster. At last check, he has no quarterback or tight end but he’s open to offers for Fred Taylor.
