NextRound On The Couch
November 12th, 2007 by NextRound
Our Top 5 Picks for how to manage your couch time this Monday through Thursday.
We may be forgoing this segment pretty soon if the writers’ strike plays out to the extent it possibly could. When the news first broke we completely dismissed it as a bunch of hippies acting unreasonably hippie-ish. But who knew the ramifications?
We’re talking almost zero newly scripted shows this spring and a crazy influx of crappy reality television. “24″ is pretty much on the shelf for ‘08 and “Lost” is going to be considerably shortened. Bummer.
We may have to look into additional charity work to pass the time. And by charity work, we of course mean supporting single moms one dollar bill at a time.
The Weekly Five
5. Spurs at Mavs 8PM THURS on TNT
One of the few early season matchups that is really worth watching. Can Dirk step up? Will Duncan lull the Mavs to sleep with bank shots? Does Tony Parker finally get deported? Who has a worse haircut, Mark Cuban or Manu Ginobili?
Ah, the intrigue.
4. “Ocean’s 13″ TUES on DVD
Highly watchable flick that gets back to the “Ocean’s 11″ basics. For more extensive thoughts, click here.
3. “How I Met Your Mother” 8PM MON on CBS
Still the only watchable comedy on CBS. We thought the show might drag some in the third season, but it continues to click on almost all cylinders. The majority of that has to do with NPH, of course. The guy delivers every Monday night. Needless to say, we’re already excited for the “Harold & Kumar” sequel after one glance at the movie poster (above).
Oh, and this scene…(NSFW)
2. North Carolina v. Davidson 7PM WED on ESPN
The first college basketball game of the season that we’ve been looking forward to seeing. Anticipate watching Stephen Curry versus a slew of McDonald’s All-Americans.
And if you’re not familiar with Stephen Curry, you should be. This scrappy bastard drops dimes from from half court on a regular basis and is pretty much Davidson’s entire team. Oh, and he’s also Dell Curry’s kid. Dell still holds the title as the Best Three Point Shooting Black Dude With Blonde Hair Ever.
1. “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” 10PM THURS on F/X
It’s the season finale of our current favorite show. So far this season we’ve seen gigolos, trannies, masturbating bums, junkyard cats, and the good times that can ensue when people start getting mistaken for pedophiles.
The finale centers around a dance off for the bar. Two words for cool people: must watch.

You know it is a bad week when an NBA game is one of the top five things to watch. Doesn’t matter who is playing.

Sorry, was out of town all weekend without an internet connection.

We will be unrepentant NBA fans to the grave. There’s no justification, we just are.
Kind of like our love of anything involving Scott Baio.
