Commemorating The 80’s: Michael Biehn
March 18th, 2008 by NextRound
Too many brilliant people from the 80’s have been forgotten. We’re here to commemorate some of the rare genius that comprised the next to last decade of the 20th century.
Today we honor a sci-fi legend: Michael Biehn.
How You Remember Him: As Kyle Reese in “Terminator”. The soldier from the future. The battler of ARNOLD. The father of John Connor. The impregnator of Sarah Connor.
How You Should Also Remember Him: As a central figure in 80’s sci-fi. As James Cameron’s go-to guy (”Terminator”, “Aliens”, and “The Abyss”). As Johnny Ringo. And as the third raging badass (the first being Swayze, the second being Beringer) to teach Charlie Sheen everything he knows about acting (on the set of “Navy Seals”).
Reasons Why You Probably Thought Michael Biehn Was Dead: 1) He looked like he might be juicing in his brief appearance in “The Rock”. 2) You couldn’t think of any plausible reason outside of his death that he wasn’t invited to do a flashback cameo in either “Terminator 2″, “Terminator 3″, or “The Sarah Connor Chronicles”. 3) You’ve used the line “I’m your huckleberry” so many times you’d begun to think Val Kilmer really killed him.
Coolest Thing No One Knows About: Biehn’s image from “Terminator” was used as the inspiration for the video game Metal Gear.

Sort of Work He’s Been Relegated to in the 21st Century: Either big roles in movies no one sees or small roles in anything relevant. Biehn and Jeff Fahey (now on “Lost”) may both find themselves the recipients of nostalgic career resurgences after being cast in niche roles by Robert Rodriguez for “Planet Terror”. Biehn was also in that movie where Anne Hathaway got naked a bunch, so that’s something.
Recent Cool & Tough Picture of Michael Biehn: Pre-threeway.

Last up: Steve Guttenberg
Next up: Ralph Macchio
“Commemorating the 80’s” is NextRound’s memorial to the greatest decade ever.

Michael Biehn IS in a deleted scene from Terminator 2. You can see it on the “Extreme” edition of the T2 DVD.
He was also the lead in the late-90’s tv series run of Magnificent Seven, which had the dubious honor of being cancelled twice. The show still has a fairly large online fanbase.

Now that’s the type of solid trivial info we expect our readers to be on top of.
