10 MLB Entrance Song Suggestions For Increasing Awesomeness In Baseball
July 7th, 2008 by NextRound
Entrance music is one of the uniquely cool things in baseball. Our favorite non-beer related side activity when attending MLB games is rattling off songs we’d like to hear guys use for their personal intros. Many players do a solid job, but we feel there’s plenty of room for additional irony, obscurity, and forgotten awesomeness.
So in our ongoing effort to make baseball as interesting as possible we’ve compiled a list of ten awesome entrance songs we’d like to see become a reality…
Party All the Time by Eddie Murphy - The gift that keeps on giving. Time will tell, but we have a feeling this song may go down as Murphy’s all-time greatest contribution to society. It’s our numero uno suggestion for anyone in baseball up to the challenge. Infinite cool points for video accompaniment.
Good Vibrations by Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch - The classic Funky Bunch track that inadvertently led to a Planet of the Apes remake. Best used by anyone who paid $15 to see The Happening.
Return of the Mack by Mark Morrison - Simply a killer forgotten track. Best used by non-juicing white dudes under six feet tall and batting sixth or later in the order.
Sunglasses at Night by Corey Hart - Corey Hart’s incomparably awesome 80’s track about, well, being awesome. Best used by Brewers right fielder Corey Hart (seriously, he needs to get on this).
Mr. Roboto by Styx - The weirdest and catchiest of all the weird and catchy Styx tracks. Best used as the default entrance for any and all Japanese players.
Hangin’ Tough by New Kids on the Block - Of all the NKOTB tracks, Hangin’ Tough is hands down the coolest and toughest. Best used in late inning rally situations.
The Thong Song by Sisqo - The immortally cheesy ode to the most subtle of female undergarments. Best used by the league’s most notorious panty droppers.
Heartbeat by Don Johnson - Arguably the worst song ever made. Also the only reason Don Johnson thanks god on a daily basis that Eddie Murphy is more famous than he is. Best used during particularly horrendous hitting slumps.
Whoomp! There It Is by Tag Team - If this track doesn’t make you want to go out and increase your slugging percentage, nothing will. Best used by any player who looks like Toby Keith would be his go to for entrance music.
The Three’s Company Theme - Our personal suggestion for Manny Ramirez. Someone make this happen.
