It’s finally here. College football. And what better way to pay tribute to our favorite sport on its opening day than objectifying the pretty ladies on the sidelines?

Running NextRound we search Google Images. A. Lot. We’re regularly amazed by how hit or miss it can be. Take college football cheerleaders for example. With some schools it’s simple to find a compelling cheerleader photo, other schools, not so much. So to kick off college football on the right foot we’ve conducted a Google Images showdown between the schools in one of our favorite cheerleader conferences: The Pac-10.

Guidelines: We’ve image searched each of the following school names with “cheerleader” and scored our findings on a 1-10 scale. Here are the results.

Arizona

Not starting out with the strongest competitor in the Wildcats, as evidenced by this 80’s gunfight photo being the most relevant search result. The best thing this search has going for it is the mix of Arizona Cardinals and Arizona State cheerleaders. Score: 3 out of 10.

Arizona State

Now we’re talking. Three words and a click later and you’re looking at Christmas shocker poses, girl on girl action, and a pack of cheerleaders in their underpants. We’re seriously considering some graduate work at ASU. Score: 8 out of 10.

Cal

Just all around underwhelming. We thought we might run across a shot of William Hung and the Cal dance team. At least the cheerleader in the bottom of this photo could pass for a poor man’s Jessica Alba if you were drunk enough. Score: 4 out of 10.

Oregon

The surprise contender. Who knew the Ducks had it in them? Football shots, basketball shots, the random Kevin Costner shot, what’s not to like? We’re beginning to appreciate the Phil Knight investment more and more. Score: 7 out of 10.

Oregon State

The Oregon State returns aren’t too terrible but that mainly has to do with most of the images having nothing to do with Oregon State. You know it’s rough when the picture we go with has dudes in it. Ladies are pretty cute though, kind of makes you wish there was more photo evidence. Score: 5 out of 10.

Stanford

The Stanford results aren’t quite as disappointing as one might imagine, especially considering the number of times the tree mascot makes an appearance. That thing is awesome. Score: 6 out of 10.

Washington

We weren’t sure if the Huskies even had a squad prior to this. Mediocre search. At least you get a few Redskins cheerleaders sprinkled in. Score: 4 out of 10.

Washington State

The quantity’s not bad, it’s the quality that’s the problem. Oregon is apparently the black hole of cheerleading talent in the Pacific Northwest. Score: 5 out of 10.

UCLA

Here’s where things start getting really interesting. UCLA comes strong. The cheerleading monopoly in Los Angeles is officially over. We’re talking football shots, basketball shots, formal shots, stripper poses, and pictures with the dude from Wings. Pretty much everything you could possibly ask for. There’s only one thing that could possibly outdo the Bruins. Score: 9 out of 10.

USC

You guessed it. The Trojans. Wow. Highlights include bikini shots, mistake celebrations, upskirts, more bikini shots, and the most well endowed college cheerleader ever. There’s a reason these guys are the perennial champs and Pete Carroll isn’t bolting to the NFL. Score: 10 out of 10.

Winner: USC
