How weird is it that Philippines is spelled with a “ph” and Filipino is spelled with an “f”? Crazy Asians.

The reason “filipino” is spelled with an “F” is because the actual name of the country was derived from King Felipe II of Spain. The “Philip” in “Philippines” is just an anglicization of “Felipe.”
The original name Spanish name for the entire archipelago is La Islas Filipinas.”
