Let’s say you’re rich, and Canadian, and you’ve lived with your fiancee for ten years, and you decide to trade her in for a new model, and then she sues you for alimony and child support, what’s your play? That’s right. You remind her that your wedding date was April 1st and tell her it’s her problem if she didn’t get the joke. Per CTV:
During their decade-long relationship, the wealthy and well-known businessman continually promised to get married, the 35-year-old single mother testified at Quebec’s Superior Court.
Eventually, the man popped the question and the couple set their wedding date for April 1, 2001, court heard.
But according to the man’s testimony, that date was simply a prank and he had never intended to marry her.
Who knew Canadians celebrated April Fool’s Day? Bet a lot of their jokes involve mounties. Those guys are hilarious.
In unrelated news, we’ve applied to be this guy’s intern.
