Our favorite female golfer, Anna Rawson, is catching some heat in her native Australia for comments she recently made in a radio interview with regards to the evolution of women’s golf:

“The tour has got so much better with so many young stars and great players,” Rawson told the radio station in an interview arranged by her father Jim.

“But the mentality unfortunately amongst the media and the industry hasn’t changed.

“They still think we’re at 25 years ago when the tour was full of, you know, a lot of dykes and unattractive females nobody wanted to watch.”

Anna has since apologized by stating that she was just referring to the perception of the LPGA. Whatever. Sure, her comments were probably insensitive towards the lesbians who played on tour in the 80’s, but those chicks got to play golf for a living so they’re getting no sympathy from us.

From a marketing perspective, the LPGA really can’t stress enough that they now have some eye candy on tour. All Anna is guilty of is being a buzz generator. Calling chicks dykes and taking semi-naked photos, whatever it takes to stir up interest in ladies playing golf.
