5 Movie Roles Christian Bale Would Like You To Forget Happened
May 19th, 2009 byChristian Bale has been on an impressive run over the last five years, a streak he hopes to keep alive with the new Terminator. And as much we like his recent work, we shouldn’t forget some of his not-so-awesome roles in the past. Stuff like…
When he was the leader of the singing and dancing newsboys…
Or the time he played this douche in Little Women…
Or his turn as a stereotypical yuppie prick in Shaft…
Or when he got his ass kicked like fifteen times by Matthew McConaughey in a movie about dragons…
Or — of course — when he agreed to be in Captain Corelli’s Mandolin…
Man, talk about a low point. Here’s to McG not setting Bale’s career back to the point where he has to play dudes who lose their ladies to Nick Cage again.

I agree about “Shaft” and “Reign of Fire”, and even wish these two movies to dissapear from Christian’s filmography.
However, I love “Newsies” and “Little women” and his roles in these movies.
And I like him in “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”, but I don’t like parts with Cage there.

I haven’t seen “Shaft”, but I agree about “Reign of Fire”. It had Christian Bale _and_ Gerard Butler, and still managed to suck, mostly due to Matthew McCona-whatever being a parody of himself trying to play a badass.
However- “Newsies” was very cute and fun movie. It’s a Disney musical, what did you expect, “Masterpiece Theatre”?
And Laurie was not a douche, he was awesome. Plus, unlike many actors I could name, Christian is actually convincing in historical roles (and looked great in the period clothing, too)!
