February’s contest starts up today and — now that you’ve confirmed that we’ll actually give out the prize — maybe you should start contributing. Rules below. How each monthly contest will work:
- The contributor who generates the most pageviews from posts promoted to the NextRound front page in each given month is that month’s winner.
- Posts submitted to Upcoming can be promoted one of two ways: 1) Editors manually promote the best posts, or 2) 20 like votes gets auto promoted.
- Logged in users can view the number of pageviews a post has generated next to the categories line in each post.
- Each contributor’s approximate month-to-date pageviews can be viewed in the sidebar of individual author archives under “Contributor Stats” (example here).
- At the end of each month we’ll determine the winner and that person will take home the prize a $250 Amazon gift card, which may or may not be in Canadian dollars (just kidding…unless we aren’t).
- Runner-up may or may not receive a prize of our choice.
**NOTE: Upcoming urls redirect to the front page url when promoted, so subs to social media will continue to direct to the correct post even if promoted.
Tips for contributing/making the front page:
- Have a non-lame nickname (account settings here).
- Have a non-lame avatar (get one here).
- Write like you passed 9th grade English.
- Sub new and noteworthy images, videos, links, and lists (not shit we’ve had on here before).
